We are officially less than seven weeks until the penultimate season of the mega hit series Game of Thrones returns to our TV screens. The first official season seven trailer dropped this past Wednesday and my hype level is off the carts. In layman’s terms….
God almighty. I literally had goosebumps before, during, and after this trailer. There are fights, slick new clothes, dragons, a politically inclined dwarf, a tree wizard, a one handed man, an army of zombies…I could go on but I feel like I’m describing one of Stefon’s hottest clubs in NYC. This trailer HAS EVERYTHING!
Since season one, the per season production budget of GoT has nearly doubled. The production quality in this trailer looks blockbuster film worthy. Show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have demonstrated they can handle huge sequences with “Battle of the Bastards”, and I can only imagine how they will out do that come July 16.
I touched on it a little on the Game of Thrones season seven preview episode of my co-hosted podcast, but I have never been more infatuated with a story as I have been with A Song of Ice and Fire. The story is complex, layered, thought provoking, and examines the good and bad of human nature. I cannot comprehend how George R.R. Martin created a world so dense.
Some form of a Stark family reunion seems inevitable this season. Winter is coming, bitches.
